Recommendations
Hiking boots or walking shoes with thick socks highly recommended as we are not always certain where the safari will take us. Trainers/tennis shoes not ideal, however, should suffice. Definitely no flip-flops, beach slippers or similar, please. A decent level of fitness is also required. Bring something to eat for lunch and sufficient water. Wear suitable clothing for the possibility of pushing through thick scrub and undergrowth.
Additional Gear
Bring your own binoculars, camera and a head torch if you have one, if not, a standard torch will suffice.
Highlights
Opportunity to see a variety of animals, birds, mammals and plants in the presence of a knowledgable guide. We will be out on the trail very early in the morning when the birds and animals are most active, and in the areas where they are known to be most abundant.
Facilities
Lavatory, drinks and food available at Frigiliana, the Nerja Caves and Maro, depending on location.
Observations
The itinerary details and meeting points will be posted on the website soon. If you have an interest in knowing more about the safari, please contact me for more information.

I offer walking wildlife safaris, co-guided by a renowned naturalist and expert with over 40 years of experience of the Natural Park’s flora and fauna. This is an exclusive and exciting opportunity to gain a unique experience through knowledgable, expert, guided exploration and observation of the Natural Park. The safari will follow specially selected routes to offer the greatest chance of spotting a variety of species.

Experience an exciting and adventurous aspect of Nerja and Frigiliana’s wildlife that most visitors never see, hear or experience! Be in with a chance to see the iconic Iberian ibex up close or in its ritual throes during the mating season; spot and identify soaring eagles, falcons and kestrels in their natural habitat; see the incredible, colourful and beautiful wild orchids of the Park; smell and touch a variety of mushrooms, wildflowers and wild Mediterranean aromatic plants and herbs, and the chance to see a host of other animals and interesting features of the Park, all amidst spectacular mountain scenery, verdant valleys, mountain streams and dramatic crags; not to mention the sheer imposing silence and power of it all! These are just some of the delights waiting to be discovered.

Available safari days are Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays, however, for practical reasons, only one safari day will be chosen per week. Having said that, if there is a lot of interest in the safaris for any given week, I will most likely run two safaris for that week, but in the meantime, it will be limited to just one safari day per week.

The safari will begin early in the morning, usually around 07:00, and will last for approximately 5 hours. There are a number of safari itineraries within easy reach of Nerja and Frigiliana. There are also other interesting itineraries further afield in other parts of the Park. All excursions will follow routes that will take us into areas where the fauna are known to be most active and common, and where there is also an abundance of interesting flora.

If you have an interest in knowing more about the safari or to make an informal booking, please contact me for more information.
